The stock stereo in my 850 only works for radio and tape, but when I press CD the screen says HOT and will not play anything. The HU isn't hot at all, and it's said this for months. It says that even when the car hasn't started in two days. I've looked online for an answer and have yet to find anything.
Is it possible to be just a fuse or something simple? I would imagine if the HU overheated altogether and died on me that the radio and tape deck wouldn't work either, but those two work fine. I don't have any idea what else could be causing it. I tried unplugging the stereo altogether, tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, both to no avail. Ironically, I bought a new stereo today to remedy the situation and it isn't receiving any power at all.
Any ideas for the old HU saying HOT or the new one not receiving power would be awesome.

Is it stolen? Just wondering since it says "Hot".
I am not an expert mechanic, but I will attempt any repair. Worst case scenario is I screw it up worse than it was.

Lo and behold, there was one blown fuse and it of course was the radio fuse. Works perfectly fine now

It says "het" if it's stolen. "Hot" is for when the temperature is too high for the CD player.
