New here but need immediate assistance please. 1990 740GL Wagon 8v.
After a desperate search on the Internet, I found this forum.
This car is a Xmas present for my 16yr old daughter. I just got the car ready and inspected when today I noticed spots on the rear window. Curious, I cleaned the window but the spot returned in a couple of miles. Not soon after, the car got hot so I pulled over. I found coolant sprayed on the underside of the hood and thought that I had blown a head gasket. Upon checking the oil and finding no water I found a steady drip under the car at the firewall.
I finally found the leak. The heater hose had split right at the entrance to the head.
I am no mechanic but I am going to attempt to replace the heater hose on. This is a sweet little car with 230k on it and it runs like a top!
I have the new hose in my hand ($10 at Bap-Geon) but cannot figure out how the heck to get to the head fitting without pulling the intake manifold??
Is this repair feasible for a dummy with a few tools? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
