2001 XC70. 158K miles. I've ruled out the battery by having it tested - my car has been (even in warm weather) clicking when trying to start. It'll occasionally turn over and usually start, but since the cold has hit here in Denver (sub zero temps) it hasn't wanted to start at all. Clicking and clicking, with the engine cranking one time every 5 seconds or less, until the battery is nearly dead.
Sometimes it starts right up, but more often than not is the clicking. Wires all "look" good (I know looks can be deceiving).
Does this sound like a relay? The next time I go out I'm going to swap the #4 relay as suggested somewhere else. If it's not that, I assume the next steps are to check the selenoid, then the starter itself.
Is it common at all for that relay to go out? Or is that just wishful thinking?
