2000 Volvo S80 issues
I just got a 2000 volvo s80. When we got it, the dash was lit up like a christmas tree. After an oil change, new tires and other maintenance the lights went out. We are now getting the SRS light and the abs alert. The car runs outstanding when it is cold and then once it warms up, and I go to brake it does this thing where the rpms rev up to about 2000 and lerches the whole car forward. Also after driving the car and then go to park it and I dont shut it off right away it sputters like it wants to shut off. This car has also shut off out of the blue while driving at low speeds. Can anyone give me any ideas of where my husband should start?

Release the ETM (Electronic throttle Motor) from the inlet manifold and clean it out with a rag soaked in carb spray, on the N/A engines it is an easy job as the ETM is bolted to the inlet manifold with easy access, follow the large rubber pipe from the air filter box to the engine and you have found the ETM. On the Turbo models access is rather more involved as the ETM is mounted under the inlet manifold, on these models budget on a two or three hour job as it is far more fiddly, a mirror and torch to look under the inlet manifold will be of assistance - Mike
