2000 S80 non-turbo Many issues

A friend just purchased a 2000 S80 non-turbo and of course having some issues.

First.. sometimes it will just crank and wont start, let it sit, itll start up. Sometimes you can turn the key and the accessories work but it wont crank over, turn the key off and back on and itll start.

Secondly.. The tachometer when you first start will work for about 10 sec and then quits working. It has the ABS, Tracs, and CEL. the codes i pulled were- P0154,P0455,P1631.. it runs great sometimes and runs badly sometimes. Any ideas on this mess ?

Check your starter. Any other noises hinting to a bad starter or failing starter solenoid? How many miles on the car? Other possibility is gas fume pressure issues - I say this as a quick look says the P0455 code is the Evap system. Other two codes point to O2 sensors - this would explain the poor running. Other culprit may be the battery - if it is on the dead side it can cause all these problems.
