2007 S40 drive/startup issues

Been reading this forum foe a while but only now reached the point of needing to see if I can get any help.

Last July driving @ 60mph on dual carriage-way lost all power from accelerator, i.e. electrics were all on but accelerator did not drive car coasted to hard shoulder and the car stalled - eventually restarted the car and took it to dealer. Said the error was traced to the EGR valve issue. Cleaned and sent me on my way - a week later the exact same thing - so they replaced the EGR. The day I collected the car from dealer it failed to start and had to have it towed back. After a week they said they had found the issue something to do with wiring on a board - were not specific and am kicking myself for not pushing for more detail. I then in December noticed what felt like a few mis-fires in the car one day. A few days later the car failed to start - everything turning over but no engine fire - towed again. They spent a week with car saying they had fuel & spark but no ignition. Eventually Monday before Christmas I was told it was the ECU computer. Ordered a new one - fitted got car back last Monday. Yesterday evening again the car failed to start, got it going - driving back to dealer this morning to have the car die under me again the exact same as the 1st time == towed AGAIN... Help - I get the feeling that the garage if the computer won't tell them the issue they don't know where to go...

Appreciate any feedback...
