Hi All,
New here, thanks for all that you do, love the forum!
I have a 2009 S80, 50k. For about a year, when the button is pushed, it SOMETIMES takes a little longer than usual to start up (have to hold it in a bit longer than standard). It will often sound a little unsure when it starts, and it has, a few times cut off.
The other day, I went to start it, it started, very roughly, shaking a bit, and then it began to idle roughly, black smoke came out of the mufflers, it did this for about a 1 minute, than stopped. (still in park)
I went to start it, and it started, very roughly, and then shut off.
I tried to start it again (check engine light came on), and from that point forward, it would started and idled roughly, but the minute i touched the gas pedal, it would shut off, immediately.
I had to have it towed.
It started with no problems the next day for my mechanic. The non-dealer mechanic I took it to, simply said he could not get the detailed code (?) but only a general code of something related to the fuel system. He advised me to take it to the dealer.
I picked it up, and drove it home with no problems. When I got home, I revved the engine to check for hesitation, and it did not hesitate. I did; however, get some black smoke after revving a bit.
Any ideas of where to start troubleshooting? Thank you all greatly!

Fuel filters are cheap.
I like curves on my women, not my cars
