2004 V70R Strut Replacement Options

Post by BigDinPCB »

Has anyone ever gone away from the electronically controlled strut (quoted as 600 or 800 dollars, I forget) and simply installed regular struts, obviously forgoing the variability in stiffness? Are there options here, both in terms of fit and price? Is it even doable? Thanks.

If you look at Rockauto you will find them far cheaper. A little less than $300 ea. Monroe c1501 and c2501 are the OE shocks.
Then google "rock auto discount code" for 5% off when entered in the "how did you hear about us?" line on the shopping cart page.

You'll have a bear of a time finding something for the rear as all other AWD wagon P2's are XC70 with high ride height.

No wonder the car has been for sale forever. Why would you want to disable one of the cars best features? I know it is more expensive but you picked the most expensive version to buy and maintain.
