Cruise control not working right

I just took my 2000 S40 to have my ignition repaired & key replaced at a dealer in Jacksonville, FL. It cost just under $800 and when I got there it would not start so I had to buy a battery which was another $135 but I had my baby back. A couple days pass and rainy weather comes through my town & I notice my intermittent speed doesn't work so I thought to try my cruise and it does not work either. I called the dealer & explained the issue & they said to bring it & they would look at it for free. The problem is that they are an hour away & I already do not trust them. My first and only visit they killed my battery & broke everything on my steering column. Does anyone know how to fix both the wiper blade knob and the cruise control & is it worth doing myself?
