97 850 wiper malfunction

Post by philippet »

Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks back I lost the rear wiper - nothing moving anymore. Then yesterday the front wipers stopped working. Fuse is fine and there is some power: they only twitch a little bit every few seconds, even when the switch is off.

I am thinking the wiper relay went wrong. Does that make sense? Does the same relay control both front and rear wipers?

Thanks

I don't know what the problem is, but I can tell you there are two different relays for front and rear wipers.

Thanks for the idea. The strange thing is that both front and rear wiper went out kind of gradually. First they were going weak for a while and then they both just stopped. Other electrical devices going through steering work fine, though.
The wipers tweak a little even with the relay out.

What about the fuses, is there only one or also two of those? I don't know about that one.

maybe its a bad ground, try removing the motor, cleaning the feet, and re installing. It happened on my 240, turned out to be a bad ground.

Turned out I just had to replace the wiper assembly. The twitching was just the motor trying to put back the wipers into place but struggling against the stuck little bearings. Thanks for your help.
