96 855 Direct radiator swap, manual to AT?

96 855 Direct radiator swap, manual to AT?

I have a good radiator pulled from an auto trans 850 and a leaky one in my 96 855 manual trans. Can I just plug the auto trans line couplings? Any other issues with that swap?

You can swap it. The radiator part is the same, you won't use the AT cooler part so it's just going to sit there.

I manual swapped my 98, the original AT radiator is still in it.

Okay, great! But will I need to plug the AT ports?

Nope. Replaced my 1999 with a Nissens last year, and had the same question. Replacement radiator had ports for auto which weren't needed for my 5 speed.

Ports can just be left open.

You don't need to plug the ports. If you can find a couple of rubber caps to hose clamp on then it would prevent the coolant from leaking if the cooler sprung a leak. Since the cooler itself isn't under any pressure the chances of it leaking are pretty small but capping them falls into the "It can't hurt anything" category.
