OBX downpipe/exhaust on LHD?

Post by cjep »

I bought an OBX turbo back exhaust system for my 1998 C70 Left Hand Drive (Australian model). I cant for the life of me get the downpipe on. I have been taking off brackets and it seems like it is hitting one of the supports for the steering rack.

Has anyone had any success with these systems on a LHD car? If so, any tips?

This should of course read RHD (right hand drive). :-)

I have removed the brackets to the steering rack, and cut one of the supports with an angle grinder. It is close to fitting, but now the downpipe is actually hitting the steering rack (the knuckle that comes up into the car). I cant see any way of moving forward now...

In other words, I cannot see any way to install the OBX straight flange downpipe on a RHD car.

I have had a look, and it seems like the angled flange downpipe curves far less and will probably fit. I have ordered an angled flange turbo housing and will see how it goes.

Again, if anyone has any experience installing an OBX downpipe on a RHD car, please let me know.

I can confirm that the OBX angled downpipe just fits on a Right Hand Drive C70. I still had to cut away much of the steel support/protection for the steering rack, but at least now it fits!

It seems as if the straight flange downpipe extends about 2 inches further to the right of the car than the angled, and simply wont fit in our RHD cars...
