1999 V70 Upper torque rod bushing kludge?

Read the DIYs--unfortunately not before I purchased a Lemfoerder 2609201, which I now realize will fit only the 1998 V70s (may be the same as the old 850 bushing?--don't know).

Why are the bushings not available for the 1999?--all I can see are the aftermarket bushing and support as a complete unit.

Someone posted on Sweedspeed http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... rque-Mount a kludge--wrap the smaller bushing with 6 or so layers of 2" wide electrical tape (enough to account for the 2mm difference in diameter and to keep it from spinning.

What say the Volvo gurus?

BTW, what I took out had completely failed, so I think anything I would do would be an improvement...)

And if a complete unit is required, has anyone got a recommendation?--Are the Hutchinson ones decent?

The way they are made the later model bushings aren't meant to be pressed out so the assembly is the only way to do it. Normally they last much longer than the 850 style bushings anyway.

I don't have any knowledge of aftermarket quality for that part since mine is still original after 200k miles and it looks as good as new. I wouldn't be afraid to buy a used/salvage replacement if you can find one.

I think I will look for a salvage replacement--mine was damaged (I think) in the front end accident that I keep finding traces of.

For now though, I did wrap the undersized one in HVAC aluminum tape--enough wraps so it was a tight fit and had to be pressed in. Bolted up OK and settled the motor right down and is definitely better than the broken one--

I'll take a picture tomorrow, but from the looks of it, the old one had been broken for some time...
