Hello Volvo Gurus,
I have 00' XC70 with an odd driver side window porblem. Apparently, from slamming the door too hard, my power window motor split in half, now causing the gears to make an awful grinding noise when trying to operate the window. I have since then bought a replacement motor, but now i am stuck on how to remove the window and get to the screws to remove the broken motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance! Cheers!

It is tricky. What you need to somehow do is lower the window about 1/3 of the way down and, at that point, you can access the retainer clips that hold the regulator to the window track through a couple of openings on the inside sheet metal door panel. After the clips are removed you can disconnect the window from the regulator arms and remove the panel with the window motor to replace the motor assembly.
In your case getting the window down may be a challenge. Even when the motor dies you can manually raise or lower the window with a Torx head screw on the back of the window regulator gear but if the entire gearcase broke I don't know what to tell you.

Ok I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning if the weather permits. The window does move freely on its own so adjusting it shouldn't b e a problem. Disconnecting the widows from the arms sounds like the part I might have trouble with. Thanks for your timely help. Cheers!

The clips come off easily and then removing the arms is cake. The hard part is finding the clips in the first place. The holes in the door panel are typically covered over with some sound deadening material that you will need to peel off.
