I have a non-turbo S70 with a presumed bad (code read) CVVT valve (and intermittent knocking on acceleration). I was looking for one on Ebay and there is some concern because they are advertising both *intake* and *exhaust* cvvt solenoids. I only see one on top of the head behind the cam sprockets. Are there two? Mine has a straight in connector but the one offered for sale on IPDUSA looks like it has a connector that makes a "u-turn" on the end of the part. What's the scoop from people more knowledgeable here on this forum?

I think on the non turbo the CVVT is on the intake cam but you need to look. My '99 low pressure turbo has it on the exhaust cam. If it is on the firewall side of the cam cover it is the exhaust solenoid. If it is on the radiator side of the cam cover it is the intake solenoid.
Have you tested the solenoid with an ohmmeter? Sometimes the oil passages get clogged up and they will throw a code. If you test it with an ohmmeter it should read fairly low resistance, I think mine read about 20 Ohms and it worked fine. If it reads open then it is most certainly bad.
Be sure to get a new gasket before you remove it to either check it for clogs or replace it.

Mine was on the intake. Besides the cel the primary symptom was knocking under acceleration. I purchased a salvage replacement off Ebay for ~$30 and now my engine is purring again. Took about 15 minutes to replace. Easy swap.
