1998 S70 GLT Right Front Strut shot!
1998 S70 GLT Right Front Strut shot!
I am considering these ready mount pre-assembled Gabriel Struts. Have you any thoughts or comments regarding this choice. I would rather go with Bilstein or Sachs for that matter but I have a very tight budget and would like to get a better handling S70 than what I have. Thank You.

There have been some posts about the Gabriel Readymounts, you could do some searching here. I don't think I would put them on but some people here have had pretty good luck with them, albeit pretty low mileage per year. My take from those posts is it is at least a decent strut. Monroe Quickstruts I have experience with, on those the spring seats do not last.

my impression of the "quick strut" setups is that they are built to achieve a low price, and the quality is as should be expected from such, but they get the job done.
if you're planning to keep the car another 100k miles, i wouldn't use them. the cost of replacing them could exceed the savings over buying decent hardware. but if you're not sure how long you'll hang on to the car, they're probably not a bad way to save some cash and time.

Hello: So are you DIYing this project? If so buy OEM spring seats and the best struts you can afford. I am running KYB's front and rear and am very happy with them. At this point any brand of replacement strut will be an improvement over what you have. Regards, SpeedyPete

Francis: Check out FCP euro $75.00 fronts, $61.00 rears. Use OEM rear mounts (Hutchinson) $20.00 and OEM (XC90) Spring Seats (#30683637) $40.00. You can probably even find a discount code/coupon for FCP. Best Regards, SpeedyPete
