1997 NA 850 Trip computer

In a 1997 NA 850 is there any reason I couldn't swap in the average MPG and Speed computer with the clock and temp display? I know there is some talk about certain cars being incompatible but I got the idea that after 94 it shouldn't be a problem at all

Have you pulled the cluster yet? I think there's a connector there that plugs into the meter and a blank spot in front for the switch. My wife's 98 S70 didn't have the computer but when I pulled the gauge to put in bulbs I saw what I'm thinking was the connectors for the trip/MPG thing. I've seen them sold stand-alone on ebay so I say probably.

Well I've seen posts saying that you cant make the swap in base models
Posts saying you can only do it if you get the right version
Posts saying you can't ever do it at all unless you already have it
Posts saying all trip computers will work with all cars
etc etc
Just looking for solid information

That's the one. As long as it's not a weird 93-94 trip computer you should be fine. Yazaki clusters were the old ones.
