Ill come up with a better title once I stop fuming,,,,S
Inspection due in June, so had to address three issues
1 P0327 - Knock sensor permanent fault - I had managed to try make/break connection a few months ago but ordered a new sensor after that failed. Today went out to replace. On the ME7 car, you can just see the LHS sensor under the manifold, the RHS sensor I spent an hour looking for it only to find it buried under the PCV system - It looks like a real struggle to get this guy out without pulling the manifold and ETM - any advice here appreciated.
2 EVAP code P0442 - I had burned up my time looking for the knock sensor but inspected the whole system, put a new purge valve in, and checked the purge shutoff valve for correct Ohmage. I did not have time for a smoke test. I can blow into the purge line from the front of the car with the gas cap on or off - I think this is indicative that I might just have a leak somewhere. Im toying with the idea of putting about 2 psi pressure on the system and using soap as a leak check.
3 Sway bar links are ugly ducks. These take a 14mm (M10) wrench to undo the nut, holding the stud with a TORX 30. Of course all the TORX fittings stripped out rather than release the nut. Do I grind these nuts off with a Dremel or angle grinder?

Hmm always thought ALL models had reduced to only one knock sensor after finding only one on my '99 Denso car a couple of years ago....perhaps the ME7s still have two of them.
Angle grinder all the way as far as getting over 15mm of metal off....you can do it with a Dremmel if you have 2 or 3 cutting discs.

Thanks Mike.
Do I grind off the nuts or should I try grind off the whole link end on the other side.
I'm a bit worried that I can't get the whole nut cut through because of that recess.

Once you grind off the hexagonal area of the nut straight through with the grinder the shouldered part of the nut will just fall off as it has nothing to attach to.
On the other end of the endlink is a ball so that will simply NOT pass through the hole unless you grind that off instead of the nut. I would go for the nut first (said the chipmunk)

I trained my daughters to go for the nuts first, too.
