1991 240 Driver door outside handle

Volvo with 120,000 miles. I am noticing that the driver's door handle has some "free play" - the other three are tight, no free play. My experience with this sort of thing on other cars is that eventually it just comes loose. Is some part wearing out? How do I determine just exactly what is causing it to be loose? Are there screws that might be coming loose? Do I take off the door panel and have a look/see?
any advice from someone is familiar with this would be appreciated.

Old issue, most likely one side of door-handle's "arm" has fractured, broke.
