2001 s80 front shocks have 1/4 in gap at top

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post a photo to verify assumption.

Just replaced everything in my front suspension. There are no gaps between the upper bearing and fender well where the 3 nuts go. The strut mounting nuts also need to be tight and flush against that special upper bearing rubber/metal flat "washer". Make sure of your torque settings.

I think the OP is referring to the gap between the strut mount and the top washer that is bolted to the strut shaft.

Matt makes a point.
Would you post a photo SimLyons.
A flipped star nut would add to the spacing - a correctly installed example below.

My photo would be no different from the above. Does anyone have an "exploded view" of the sequence of all the correct pieces on the S-80? (Or XC-90)? That would help us all I think.
