If your 850 driver’s side window is loose in the channel, especially in front, here is an easy fix.
Remove the door panel (see elsewhere for instructions). Roll down the window about a third of the way with the power switch, then remove the ignition key from the ignition. There is no need to disconnect the battery.
Carefully unplug the wiring harness from the window motor. Then remove the three 10mm bolts holding the motor to the door and place the motor aside.
Remove the plastic panel covering the opening at the bottom of the door panel.
You should now be able to move the window vertically up and down in its track with your hands.
Loosen, do not remove, the two bolts shown in the picture. The one on the left is inset into the foam insulation. These bolts adjust the “play” of the window’s seating in the track.
Push the window all the way up to its closed position, making sure the top and front of the window are snug in the track.
With the window repositioned, tighten the two 10mm bolts.
Re-install the window motor and test the repositioned window before reinstalling the door panel. If the window operates normally without any play . . . give yourself a pat on the back and a beer in your mouth!
