2000 V70 Where to Buy Headlight & Rear Wiper Blades

Post by KBlue_V70 »

I need wiper blade refills on my V70 for the headlights and the rear (17"). Since I live in a hot environment the cheap blades last about as long as the more expensive ones. Walmart often has blades for under $5 each. I saw the sizes needed for the front and rear blades in the parts book on the shelf but WM didn't carry them. There was no reference to the size for the headlights at all. Any suggestions for a cheap source?

The rear just takes a standard blade, but the headlights don't. I have cut standard blades to fit these rather than buy them, but last time I ordered them from one of our MVS supporting vendors.

A Dremel works great for cutting wipers. I do the same for the 60 USD rear BMW X3 blade.

For my 1998 V70 that I used to own: to be honest with you:

1- The HL wipers system to me is worthless, many cars don't have this features. So many many years ago, de-activated this system by:
a. Disconnect the electrical supply to the wiper motor, just unplug it on both sides.
b. Go the washer reservoir and used a zip-tie to clamp shut the hose that feeds the HL system. This way you don't waste washer fluid. When I first bought the V70, it went through a lot of washer fluid b/c every time you use the washer jet spray, it sprays the windshield glass, and both HL lenses.
After I de-activated the HL washer syste, it is now back to normal.

2- The rear wiper: go to Autozone etc. and get the standard Bosch wiper, about $15.
If you only want refill, then search for TRICO refills. Some stores carry it (Advance Auto), some don't.

Got it. In daylight I see that the rear wiper arm is Anco. I was thinking that since the front wipers are 9 inches long, could I cut the rubber from an 18 inch wiper refill in half and replace just the rubber but the metal part of the existing blade is bent. I'll just compare, measure, and cut. I do have a Dremel tool. Thank you.

Thanks very much. I'm now wondering if someone has already deactivated the HL washer system. I've never seen any drips or other indication that it works at all! For the blade refills I'm going to try a bigger Walmart store. They had a variety of lines and perhaps I saw Trico but were out of a lot of sizes. Bosch is kinda pricey.
I use homemade washer fluid so it's pennies.

On my '93 850 GLT (only model available in the U.S. in '93) The headlight wipers come in useful.

Especially last winter which set a record for snowfall in Michigan. There was a month long period that it stayed mostly below zero and couldn't/didn't wash the car at all.

The headlights on the '93 are an inch taller than the following 850 years and there is actually a lot of glass to clean. They sprayed and cleaned well, making a noticeable difference at night.
Big glass lenses.

You may not need them in a warm climate at all. My wagon came from Florida and had nothing from the winter package, i.e. heated seat, headlight wipers.
