Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2008 S80 Remote Will Not Open Doors

Post by taj59 »

I feel like these problems are all related to a common cause, I could be wrong and it could just be a coincidence. My remote door lock fobs stopped working when not in use for a short time. I replaced battery but this did not help. The low tire pressure light also came on about this same time frame and will not go off. I've checked the tires every day. I also disconnected the negative terminal from the battery to see if everything would reset. The only thing this did was cause the automatic windows to stop working. If you put the emergency key in the door lock and unlock it, the fob will unlock the other doors. Also, after you've shut down the car it will work to lock and arm the car. you can actually cycle through the process and it works flawlessly. but after you go in the house for a little while and come back out, the fob doesn't work again. any ideas would be appreciated.

Likely to be the RRX (remote receiver module). You'd need to have it scanned with VIDA at a shop with a VIDA scanner or a dealership. The RRX receives the signals from the TPMS as well as the key fob signals.

Does your sunroof open? I ask because the alarm system controls both the sunroof and the remote door openings.
