1995 850T Random Piece of Foam Found

Post by Clark L »

So I found the following piece of foam when I opened my center gearbox thingy (not a car enthusiast so I don't know all the names) to change the shifter light.
Random piece of Foam, one side sticky (the side that is facing camera right now).

And this is where I found it (when I opened the compartment, it was just flopping around... like it had just fallen off of something):
Where foam piece was found.
Where foam piece was found.
My question: does anyone know where this thing goes, or is it just some random piece of foam that is not needed and can just be thrown away?

Really? I spy an Econo Sport switch in the second pic and forward seat release lever in the first pic.

Also a seat height adjuster (driver's is electric) and a red seatbelt buckle as well as a torx 50 handbrake adjuster.

Besides the handbrake is offset to the side and there's a Volvo sticker as well. 8-)

Yeah, it's a very old car. Haven't done much changing to it since it was purchased, but figured I should change the lightbulbs now since it has been almost 5 years since they burnt out.

Note to all: I'd still like to know the answer on where to put the foam, but until I get an answer, I'm just going to set it roughly where it fell out.... there's an electrical box attached to the plastic that would normally rub against the metal (next to the e-brake), so I figured I should just put it there to protect from any random banging.

This is a 240/700/900? I'll move it to that forum. I can't ID it.

I seen a 850 today with a manual passenger seat, looked just like this one.

I don't know about the foam yet, I'll check in a day or so.
