For about 2 years now my headlights will very often dip down to lower than their low beam position- shining about 5 feet in front of the car, I can switch to high beams and they return to the proper high beam position, but switching back to low usually results in the super-dipped position. Of course it didn't happen at the dealer, and their computer shows no issue. Their only suggestion was that to replace the headlight motors. Very expensive and doesn't make sense to me, because it's happening to both headlights, which I assume aren't controlled by one motor.
Last night I turned my car on and the lights simply wouldn't come on at all. I had a "Low beam failure" message. These are probably unrelated problems, but if I'm dealing with one, I may as well deal with the other.
THe motorized thing is cool, but has been a big hassle.
My real question is, can I just replace the complicated motorized headlight system with regular two-bulb headlights?
Thanks in advance for anyone with experience to answer my question.
