1998 v70r ABS - TRACS OFF illuminated

Both lights are on and the speedo intermitently goes out. when the speedo is working the cruise works. when the speedo is dead the cruise and trip meeter stop workin. I have read about having to take the modual out and resolder the contacts. Is there a way to test for continuity accross the connector pins ?

Yes, but it's pointless as a good amount of them will be cracked regardless. Also the cracked pins shift when removing or reinstalling the harness so you would never get a true reading.

If you've gotten to the point where the speedo is dropping out that module has been on a downhill slide for a long time.

You can test wheel sensor circuit continuity through the harness.

one more question and is it also possible that the ABS module is affecting the power assisted steering rack?

I pulled it and soldered it. This fixed the Speedo dropping but the random abs pumping in and out continued. I found the wedge fix and used a piece of card board folded in half. The abs has been out fir over 2 weeks..

This begs the question.. is it the connector on the ABS or the harness connector? I was thinking about pulling the harness Back and inspecting the connectors inside the harness

If you have to jam something in there to make it work then you didn't solder all of the pins correctly. At that point the harness isn't part of the equation. The biggest thing on a 96-98 module is prep before repairing it, every last bit of that rubber membrane has to be off of all the pins.
