For the past month or two I've noticed a studder in my gear shifting. The issue is most common going from 6th into 5th passing gear, the gear shift seems to "stick". However, if I punch the gas, it has no problem shifting, it's the smooth acceleration that causes issues. The car actually stalled on me one morning on the way to work. Had to pull into emergency lane on the highway, throw it in park and start up again. This has only happened once.
I took it into the Volvo dealership and they said the transmission fluid was acceptable (I've never changed it in 60k miles) and no errors showed on the computer's log. I told them to go ahead and flush the transmission fluid and replace. They gave no guarantee this would work, but I figured it probably needed it any way. Volvo told me there was a fuel pressure error that showed up on the computer log while they were test driving it and quoted me on that price ($450). They basically said if it persists, we can look to replace the fuel pressure (sensor?).
That was Friday. On Sunday, the studder came back (low RMP 6th gear) and my check engine light came on. Which leads to my question: where the heck do I go from here? Is it the fuel pressure causing the engine to receive less than sufficnt fuel to accelerate?
About the car: I've owned this car since 18k mileage and it's currently 82k. I baby this car. I'm careful with oil changes, give it high octane once every month or two, keep the tires rotated regularly, etc. The vast majority of the car's mileage is highway.
