Got a '94 850; Looking to buy a different car... Advice??

Post by M81388 »

I'm starting college next year and thought I'd get a different car. I'm looking for a used, European, AWD/4WD sedan in the $10-15000 range thats reliable and between the last 6-10 years. Any suggestions for Makes/Models?

Thanks

This is like the old saying. Fast, cheap, reliable... pick two. In this case, those variables are changed to European, AWD, reliable. I hate to say it, but I think that what you're looking for doesn't exist. Volvo's AWD systems have proven to be, ehm, less than perfect. I've heard some decent things about BMW's AWD system used in the 330xi, but that definitely falls out of the specified price range. Audi... don't go there unless you're an electrical expert. Check out Subaru. Don't get the WRX unless you like fixing transmissions.

Not to beat a dead horse: but stay away from the early Volvo AWD vehicles. Bad news; a lot of folks have actually disconnected the rear wheel drive shaft and just run them as FWD vehicles. In your price range I would stay away from AWD alltogether. I would look at something like a low milage 98 S70 T5 (98 was a good year).
