ABS module repair or replace

Post by S70 Guy »

1998 S70 GLT Turbo
My ABS unit is check light and trac control light is on. ABS is not working. I have seen repair/rebuild advertised on ebay.
My question is: has anyone used any repair shops where you had to send your unit away? what were the results, how was the unit afterwords, were you pleased overall. Or should I just replace it?
does anyone have written instructions for removing/replacing the unit?

Thanks

Haven't used him yet, but I have seen nothing but good reports on eBay and message boards. THere is a link on his page on the removal and FAQ.

I have the exact same car as you and I had the same failure. Not unusual; from what I read they all will fail and worst than that the new ones will fail as well. I sent mine off to Victor and had it back within a week. Works great. I sent him a money order for $145 which includes the repair and the return shipping. Victor runs a class act. You won't be disappointed. You will need an E5 torx and a 1/4 inch drive ratchet to get the unit disconnected. Victor will sell you the E5 socket cheaper than you can buy it elsewhere. Don't try and do it without the E5 socket. If you jimmy it up and strip those tiny little Torx screws using something that wasn't made for it, you'll be in a jam. A new one from FCP will run about $400 and a rebuilt one is about $300.
