1999 V70 XC seriously foggy windscreen?

Post by wagonator »

Ok so I've had this V70 AWD for more than four years: over 200,190k. Still runs well but the AC and defrost are less than notable.
Luckily the heater works wonderful living in the Pacific Northwest. However the moisture from the heat is filming my windows.
Recently I serviced the AC and added a moisture inhibitoron the defrost port.

Still finding streaks and at night major starbursts from oncoming traffic.

Any tricks you know or ways to eliminate this dangerous distraction?

should I just continue wiping before driving or when dropped.

Its not bad enough to prevent me from seeing basic traffic controls, but I'm worried it'll become to the point where I can't keep up Free safety.
I even put moisture absorbent packets to help with no avail.

Also I've recharged the AC. Does it take time top take effect?

In tge Pacific Northwest it's crucial top have a crystal clear set of Windows.

Any suggestions are more than welcome! Many thanks in advance!

If it's that nasty oily film you're getting, your heater core may be leaky.

I was in denial about it for months, and then my heater core exploded on the highway, leaving me stranded.

Learn from my mistake - check your heater core for leaks, and replace it if you need to. You can access it using the instructions in this video from our very own rspi:

Agree on the heater core. I used the BEHR heater core and instruction video from the IPD website. It was very easy and no leaks.
