Changed out my heater core a few weeks ago and it took care of the smell and fogging. Yay! Now I am getting fogging on the windows, not like before. I clean them and they have that hazy look again. Any thoughts on this?
Also my heat output is lacking since the switch. There was a post earlier today with this same issue. I'll keep tabs on that post but anything here I'll take too!
As always thanks folks

when I R & R my heater core I had to take the carpet out of the car and wash both sides to get most of the antifreeze out. Also pulled out the fiber board sound deading material and gently washed. I was surprised how much of the antifreeze was trapped in the layers. The neat thing was 20 years of coffee spills helped turn the carpeting from sun fade orange closer to the original tan color.

Isn't by chance ...the REC button on heater console on?
If it is...it MUST be off.

All good things. Its off recirc. When I did the exchange I pressed down on the sound proof and it was dry. No puddles or antifreeze residue visible. As far as the ac compressor, it seems like it cycles. Although I haven't had to use the ac in the last few weeks, as it is Colorado. I will double check all these things. What's the best way to check the ac compressor?

Stephan, did you drive the car to check for any leaks at the connections at core or firewall before you buttoned up the interior panels? The plastic junction at the firewall has been known to crack when core is R&R. I replaced my junction out of caution, but it seemed in fine condition.

I let the car run to temp and gave it a little gas and didn't notice any leaks at the core. I didn't check at the fire wall. I will do that tomorrow as I plan on pulling it apart to verify I did it right.dosbricks wrote:Stephan, did you drive the car to check for any leaks at the connections at core or firewall before you buttoned up the interior panels? hi Stephan, before going to the trouble of removing core stuff some paper towels around the tubes and under the heater box. Pull them out in a few days and see if they are wet. This is how I found a slow leak on my Nephew's V70.
