2003 S40 When accelerate rapidly car bogs out

Post by shank73 »

Check engine light is on so i took to shop and they did a diagnostic on car. Codes found on test were PO301, PO303, and P304. Also PO131 Oxygen sensor. Was told by technician that i needed plugs and coil 1 to be replaced for car to run normally and the Oxygen sensor would take the check engine light off. I changed the plugs (denso iridium) and put new coil in. Car still runs the same. I also changed the fuel pressure regulator a month ago cause car idled rough and didnt start right up. Would using high performance plugs cause it to run this way. It runs fine when im driving like an old lady but when i get on it its really sluggish and jerks. Would reall appreciate any suggestions. Thx

I'll be curious as to the response since I'm experiencing the same thing on our '01.
However, I got a P0236 and P0237 code which leads me to believe it's the MAP sensor.
Have one ordered and hopefully will get it in over the weekend.
I'll post back if it fixes it.

Well, the MAP sensor made no difference.
But, I did get a P0303 code so I pulled the coils, and sure enough there was a crack in the coil housing.
Replaced the #3 coil and all is well for now.
