1984 244DL woes

Post by [email protected] »

I am trying to change the main harness because the insulation was gone on the wires. The new problem I'm having is I can't get the intake manifold off. I have removed all the bolts, disconnected the throttle cables , fuel line air mass unit, and all the electrical leads. The manifold is loose wiggles up and down and is about a 1/4" away from the head surface. The problem is that that is as far as it will go. Somthing seems to be holding it. Please help I have looked up from under it and can't see anything that's holding it. I'm afraid to pry on it because it's alumimum. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Check under the manifold, there is a support brace that connects from the bottom of the manifold to the block to help support the weight of the manifold.

Thanks for you quick response but I'm sorry I forgot to put on the orginal post that I took the support brackett off. It's in the back seat in a box. All other hoses ans wiring are removed or disconected. I have looked under the manifold with a inspection mirror and can see nothing.
