The C30 now has 62K miles on it. Other than the battery crapping out a few months back this has been a great car. My daughter is home for the holidays and I want to do some preventive maintenance while she is here. One of the things I plan to do is flush the AW55-5X auto transmission. The Volvo trans fluid runs about $22 per liter but I can get the Aisin fluid for about $8 per quart. [background=][/background]
Any Pro's or Con's on fluids. Is the process similar to the 850? Any tips or tricks?

'96 854 - died an early death with 184K miles. Killed by the front end of an LTD on a suicide mission (T-boned and both cars totaled).

I couldn't find anything that was close to the '11 C30 auto transmission servicing. YouTube was also a bust on info. And I received no responses to this thread in 12 days.
I had the car up on ramps and took a closer look, the more I looked the less I was able to recognize as what went where, location of tranny dip stick or fill tube with the very limited accessibility due to the tightness of how everything is crammed into the engine compartment.
So, in order not to screw anything up I took it down to the local AAmco and for $30 more than what it was going to spend in fluid from the local parts place. They dropped the pan, replaced the filter, drained the torque converter, and refilled with the correct synthetic fluid for $155. I also have a 12/12K warranty.
DIY provides the satisfaction of having completed a job the correct way while saving some money. This time I think letting the transmission shop do it was the correct call. The fluid was just starting to show some wear so I changed it at the opportune time with on 62K miles on the clock. The tech recommend a 50K service cycle since this was an unmodified car that was not being driven hard, no towing, or tracked.

Good reminder that DIY is just one option.
There's a sticky over at Swedespeed for transmission flush if you want to do it when you're doing the timing belt at 120K. In my 2006 V50, the connections to the cooler are nifty quick-release jobs, and allow a fluid flush with few problems other than finding the ONE way to actually get your hands on the needed bits.
