Grinding sound when shifting into 2nd

Post by ColonelCash »

I know this question was posed over in the S80 forum, but I'm having the same problem with my 1999 S70 T5 (which I just purchased!). Here is the issue at hand:

"After first start up or after it has sat untouched for 20 minutes, the transmission just started making a sound like a quick mettalic buzz going into the first shift only(2nd gear). It only seems to do it once after a cold start up and doesn't do it once it warms up. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this may be or any experience?????" (post borrowed from other forum)

Is this something that other owners have seen? Is it a major problem with the car or transmission? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

You know, I have a 94 850 that does the same damn thing. It will do it once and once only after it has sat for a while. I flushed the transmission with the IPD method and it did not make a difference. My trans does not slip at and I have had no issues with it. I am beginning to think it is just a quirk with the transmission....
