One light behind the climate controls went out. I removed it to ID at at local store (no Volvo dealer nearby at the time) but couldn't find a replacement, so I ordered one https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... b-30739358 from FCP. After a couple days of driving, the whole cluster was out, even after I put the bad bulb back in (the new one had not arrived yet). Does this indicate a fuse issue?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm decent with mechanical stuff but bad at electronics.
Thanks,
Axel

No
You will need a replacement (check with a junk yard)
Like the radios, there is no easy repair by an owner that he or she can do

Does it work or is the entire thing dead?
You can always send it to XeModex and have them rebuild it. They will match everything and have the software correct. It will be plug and play. No messing with exact part numbers.
I am battling mine right now, and have learned my problem is one of the motors on the back side is shorting out and taking out my fuse. My unit works if I do not plug in the harness that exits to power these motors. The fuse takes out my display as it is linked to the CEM.

I did some more reading and it seems the bulbs were replaceable up until 2003.
The climate control panel has 4 grey based bulb and 2 white. The bases of all of mine look burned out.

With some help from my repair manual, I replaced the 4 grey ones (I hadn't ordered any white) and they work now. I'll get a pair of the white ones eventually and hope the whole thing lights up then.
