I have been reading the DIY for replacing V70 struts with Bilstein touring struts and it indicates that there is an extra flange on the strut that will/may rub on the ABS wires.
That post is about 5 years old. Does anyone know if this is still a problem (maybe the struts have been revised)?
Which extra flange are we talking about?

I suspect in that post the OP was over thinking it and preparing for a speculated rather than real problem, for sure it was not based on any prior experience with that make of strut on a P80 Volvo.
Anyway, I've not heard of it being an issue before or since, nor could I find anything by searching. I wouldn't worry about it.

I just want to cover my bases. If you and others have been using these shocks without any problems or chaffing issues I'm not inclined to worry about it.
When you go with parts that weren't originally installed you run the risk of unanticipated things happening. That's why the OP for the DIY thread was cautious, I think...something new that could rub that wasn't originally there was felt to be a potential problem. If rubbing is an issue, wrapping the wires in a protective wrap will just slow down the wear in my opinion. That said better to do that than nothing.
