Hi,

I really like your board and find the information helpful in my car search. I've been looking and reading about Volvos for about two months now. I visited a few dodgy car lots, talked to private sellers on the phone and visited a few. Today I found one I really liked. It was a silver and black '97 850 GLT with 89,000 miles, one owner. She has just replaced the alternator. It is quite beautiful on the inside with a walnut dashboard and grey leather, actually maybe too nice as I worry on such a luxury car what the upkeep is. If it checks out at the mechanic I'll probably offer $8,500 up to $9,000. It drove really nicely but I didn't get a chance to test the turbo.

I am attracted to Volvos for their safety record, comfort and styling. I will definitely need a 3rd seat(are the 3rd seats all standard size?). Any tips on what to look for? Problem areas?
