98 v70 T5 Nissens Radiator Drain Plug

Post by charleskennedy23 »

Hey guys!

Just finished a radiator install on my wagon and learned that the Nissens drain plug design is different than OEM. I turned the plug a bit (at least as far as I could by hand) and nothing came out. What's the trick to opening this thing up? I don't want to turn it too hard without knowing what I am doing for fear of breaking the drain plug!

thanks for the help! This board was a great resource as I was going through the removal process =)

cheers
charles

Careful with non Valeo drain plugs.

I had a BEHR of a time with a new Behr-Hella aftermarket radiator drain plug on a 99 V70 afew weeks ago. The o ring tore on its first drain and then snapped off upon tightening it.

I would just use the lower radiator hose removal and have a bucket handy.
