The red X means that the system isn't seeing the DICE unit. Most if the time it is a driver problem. there are several YouTube videos that go through some the driver installation procedures. Usually the drivers install on their own but sometime they can be finicky.

In my experience a red x is merely an image that has no resource or incorrect version of IE running. Remember Vida looks the same whether Dice tool is plugged in or not.

I'm pretty sure that Neil (Scot 850) had exactly the same issue when I remoted in afew months ago. He upgraded his browser version and problem disappeared.

Copy and paste the web address of vida (in the address bar) Example: http://localhost/Vida
into the Chrome browser and see if you can login with Chrome. If you can see a different screen that looks better you know the browser is corrupted or the wrong version.

If Dice is not recognised you won't see it in Device Manager (very simple to check) Also when Dice is plugged in Windows will chime with a note then a higher note in quick succession (have volume turned up)

Look at the installer Vida2014D\Install\Utils
There is some registry scripts.
Check if you have these values int he registry.
Most important are
EnableIEHostingx64.reg
EnableIEHostingx86.reg
if entries are missing in the registry try to run it manually (double click on the .reg file).
Choose the right one depending on your installer windows version x86 or x64.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)
