'99 S70 Base -- Stereo Install -- 2 Questions

Post by E Showell »

I'm upgrading the stereo in the S70 to an SC-901 with center speaker dash and Dolby Prologic unit. I have all the necessary bits. I have no diagrams/instructions.

Specifically, where does the wiring for the center dash speaker get routed? It looks like it can easily pass through the cut out for the passenger side airbag with room to spare. That is where it is routed for now, but the dash hasn't been screwed into place. That also appears to me to be the only place that it could possibly be routed.

Second question: How does the Dolby Prologic unit mount? The unit has a bracket with legs at two different angles -- one goes pretty much straight down from the side of the unit, the other goes out at an angle. What seems to make the most sense to me is that the angled leg would be installed on the driver's side, since that would put the actual unit closer to the wiring coming from the amp, but I've never known car makers to do what is seemingly logical. Additionally, it would appear that the Prologic unit uses the bolts that are already in place securing the metal central dash support.

Can anybody chime in on the proper wiring run for the center speaker dash and correct mounting of the Prologic unit?

Thanks again.
