This is an Expensive car to own

Post by abbiccc »

My wife drives a 2001 S60 2.4T. Basically it is 4 1/2 years old. Granted she does put a lot of miles on the car. Currently 90300.

I have added up what we have spent on service and repairs so far and I'm not happy with the result. So far it is $5300 which doesn't include tires. This includes all of the regular services (majors are about $500/pop), replacement of leaking struts, replacement of the brake booster, brake pads (front and rear) and other misc. items. All repairs were made at the Dealership. They are very good at pointing out problems.

Basically most of this has happened in the last 2 1/2 years (out of warranty service). I shutter to think what were going to spend the next 90000 miles.

If Volvo makes such a good car, why does it cost so much to own? Am I alone or do others have the same problem? Maybe $5300 isn't so bad compared to others. Would like to hear what others have to say.

Bob
