I am new to the forum and would really appreciate any advice you guys can give,
So my girlfriend and myself took her car on a cross country trip to visit her family,
her car the 1999 S80 T6, has 120k on it post road trip (which was over 3k miles) we noticed on our way back that the car was leaking oil at a considerable rate, dripping at rest stops and such.
After doing some investigation I came to the conclusion that it was most likely the pcv system,
"flame Trap" so I ordered the whole kit from IPD and replaced the "Flame Trap" box, breather hose and all tubing in the pcv system.
But upon getting everything put back together the car will start but idles very roughly then dies after only 3-5 seconds, also if you put the key in the ignition and turn one position forward there is a very distinct clicking/taping sound produced by the ETM, followed by a whining that lasts a few seconds.
I am not sure if I missed something in reconnecting all of the vac lines and electrical, which is very possible, I have searched for vac line diagrams and electrical diagrams and have found limited ones online I would really love some help with this as winter is approaching and myself and my girlfriend are having to share a car.
Thank you for taking the time to read this

Thank you for the reply,
I did not remove the ETM from the intake manifold, although the intake manifold and ETM was cleaned with carb and choke cleaner, B-12 chemtool to be exact, which was a NAPA suggestion.
Could the issue be that the gasket was not changed or that the intake manifold was rather well sprayed with Carb cleaner? the buddy I had helping did the cleaning and did so garden hose style...
Also I will be posting pictures of the vac lines and such that I had to disconnect and reconnect to make sure that I got all of those reattached properly.
Thank you again for helping.

The ETM is likely contaminated from all the overspray and excess cleaner. They can have entrance points to fluid at the block connector which then seeps to the contact strips.
Several DIYers have killed their ETM by flooding it with cleaner.
Check that the ETM initializes upon ignition turn on. It has a distinct click and whine which lasts for around 8 seconds.

Mike,
When the ignition is engaged you can hear the clicking very clearly coming from the ETM which from the sound of it I am almost positive it is the shutter opening and closing, it does that multiple times and whines for the correct amount of time per your reply.
My first thought was that I must have connected one of the vacuum lines incorrectly, but after looking at all of the pictures I could find online in multiple forums nothing seems to stand out as wrong, it does make it harder that I replaced most of the vacuum lines since they were spongy and flaking.
When I was doing this repair I had circumstances arise that resulted in having to reassemble the lot myself, I am planning on at a later date taking the intake manifold off again and properly cleaning it, the ETM and MAF, replacing any left over vacuum lines, and replacing all of the wire encasement that became brittle and crumbled off.
In the short term until then I just need to get this beast running and driving, it has become my opinion that Volvo's are 100% made up of tubes...
And thank you for the reply.

Sure, post some pics and I'm sure there will be many that can check the routing for you.
