Hi All
I have a 2008 XC90 3.2 AWD. Recently the CEL came on and i scanned it with my OBD and it showed p2421. I cleared it and 3 days later it came back on. I can't figure out which valve is stuck open. Purge valve? Leak detection pump? or is it something simple like a software update or Fuel cap. Car runs normal. I even had it hooked up to a Vida Clone and the code showed PCM 242100. The screen for both scanners reads "Evap emission system vent valve stuck open" Any ideas would be great. I tried unplugging the purge valve and it threw a different code. Unplugged the leak detection pump and it threw a different code. Only code that remains after resetting and waiting for it to come back on is the 2421. Thanks in advance for your help..

Just curious if you ever found out what the fix was? Seem to be having the same issue on my 2012, and I’m trying to figure it out.

It looks like this code is set if the leak detection detects a vacuum with the purge valve in the closed position.

Options

1. Disconnect the electrical connection from the purge valve reset the code and see if it comes back

2. Thump the purge valve

3. Clamp the hose between the valve and the intake manifold

The Valve (Hose to manifold is visible, electrical harness disconnected, purge line from fuel tank disconnected)
The Valve is the on the top left side of the picture.

The Manifold
I included this picture of the intake manifold to make it easier to find the valve

Good luck
