Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2002 S80 T6 Head Gasket Blown, How To Fix

Post by kdcrawford »

This is a message for madeinjapan:

I attempted to send you an email (copy below) to an address you had on a past thread, I was hoping it would go through. I was aware that the thread was many years old but took a chance anyway. Needless to say, it was kicked back. I have limited activity on the site therefore private messages have yet to be enabled. Please see below:

Greetings MadeinJapan:

I found an offer you made to other forum members to send them your PDFs on the head gasket replacement procedures \ data. My sons 2002 T6 Executive experienced a blown head gasket last week and is in need of some surgery. I have volunteered to take the lead on this and found the thread on Mathewsvolvosite. I am hoping you can assist me, I am a long time DIY mechanic but have very limited experience working on Volvos.

If you can provide me the PDFs and any other direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanking you in advance:

Thanks for your reply:

Kevin,
About 2 years back, I burnt an exhaust valve on my 850 Turbo Wagon. I do not have any professional training, but I have been a shade tree mechanic for over 35 years. So, why not start with a very involved head job. :-) I have included a link below to what I used for reference for a complete head rebuild. This is written for the 5 cylinder, mine was the 5 cylinder turbo.

I currently have a 02 S80 T6. I wouldn't recommend using any of the torque values from this attachment, but I thought the process here might help. JDS60R included a PDF from VIDA. If that is enough for you, great. If not, this link should help a lot. Personally I recommend buying the cam lock tool, rather than the fabricated one they show.

Volvo 5-cylinder: How to Replace the Head Gasket

I hope this is useful,
Chris
