air pump change over and removal of valve
Im going to attempt the change over from my stock but inop airpump on my 97 850 turbo. Ive been told the change over works as well with a 960 pump. Any input about this? Second, how in the world do I get the bolts out from the bottom of the sas valve. There is just no room. Do I remove the large heat shield and take the pipe as well?

I just finished doing the pump/SAS on mine a few weeks ago. I used a pump from a VW as stated in the repair section of this forum. Worked great; the pump was almost new and cost me $45 including shipping on ebay.
I know the bolts on the SAS valve look tough, but they aren't all that bad. I soaked the bolts with PB Blaster a few times a couple of days before the repair. As far as a wrench... I took a cheap open end and box combination wrench and cut it in half so each piece was abour 3-4 inches. I also ground down the sides on the open end wrench quite a bit so it would fit in there. Maybe I was lucky, but the bolts on mine came right out and I was done within 15 minutes. I'm sure you could buy a stubby wrench that would work well or a small ratcheting box wrench...but I'm cheap.
