Hi guys,
Managed to damage one of the new axle oil seals in the rear diff. I have to replace it, but as usual Volvo uses a special seal with a raised center section, so naturally none of my seal tools work as they are all flat. Have any of you replaced this seal successfully and if so what did you use to push the seal into the differential case?
Thanks,
Neil.
P.S. Normally the dealer is good at loaning me the special tools, but of course the foreman and manager are both off this week,

Having been to the dealer, the tool part # is 9995591 (replaced 9995564). Couldn't find the info for this car, but part is used on most Volvos in the driveline from 940's to today.
Part number for my car has been updated to 8653928 (was # 1377058).
Anyone replaced this seal and if so how did you achieve it without the special tool successfully?
Thanks,
Neil.

What is that saying? "Desperation is the mother of invention", or something like that!
Anyway, decided to have one more go at getting that dam spiral coil ring back into the seal. Many moons ago, I had to make up a special tool with fence wire to remove the spring clip retainers for my 122S door handles, so I thought I's try and make up a dulled edge hook tool using wire to try to help feed the wire coil pack in.
Took several modifications, a lot of patience (had to borrow that!), and engineering words of encouragement and 'voila' the coil spring popped back in! So now no need to remove the seal at all and hopefully it won't leak. Did check it for damage with a bendy small mirror and all looks well. Axle is also slid back in place. Decided to quit while (hopefully) ahead for the day.
This is the tool and the seal if anyone is interested:
Little notch in the end was to stop the wire coil from slipping back out as I wound the tool around the hole, while holding the seal closed at 180 degrees from the tool position with a finger.
If you look closely you can see the impression of the coil spring in the groove it is held in
