2001 V70 T5 Check Engine Light after fuel up...

I couldn't find this on a search....so here goes...

This is a problem unique to Oregon where we don't pump our own gas. I filled up at Costco last night and have a CEL today. It's kind of my own fault, I watched the attendant put the gas cap on in my mirror and thought she did it pretty fast....I checked the cap after the CEL came on today and it tightened almost a quarter turn, so I am assuming it was the loose cap.

Will this kind of CEL reset on its own or will I have to reset it with a scanner?

Other than that, the car is running awesome, after plugs, filters, an oil change as well as cleaning the connector to the VVT solenoid fixed the other issues the car was having.

New Jersey has gas station attendants also. If you try to pump your own gas (as we do in Pennsylvania), they express displeasure.

The CEL should reset on its own.

Thanks. I knew there was another state in the east that didn't allow self-serve, but didn't know which. Here in Oregon the only time they let you pump your own is if you're on a motorcycle. I grew up pumping my own gas in Washington state, but have to admit it's nice having someone else do it when it's cold and rainy...which can be half the year here in the PNW.

An interesting update to my earlier post, today I got a warning where the little red triangle lit up and said the fuel cap was loose or off....it reset after restarting the car and didn't throw a check engine light. Hmmm, kinda weird.

Could it be just a bad fuel cap?

I've got to get a VIDA-DICE setup!

You might have a loose hose on your EVAP circuit, but don't sweat it until/if it returns

Thanks, I was suspicious of that. I have a manual on order, I would like to see the anatomy of the system. Also going to pick up a VIDA setup this month.
