98 v70xc exhaust cat question
Hello all, I'm new here to this site. I have gotten a quote from and Indy exhaust shop that I have used for other cars and are pretty good. They told me that I need a new cat and muffler. They told me to save $ they could weld in a OBD1 cat because of the age. They did say that this may throw check engine light it due to the age it won't affect the state inspection. My question is if does throw a code what would it be and would it affect the fuel mileage? Any thoughts on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

I agree with misha. Anything that intentionally throws a code (probably PO422) is not right for the car. And yes it would likely effect fuel mileage because of fuel trim running rich.
