'88 760 Transmission AW71

I am rebuilding this AW71 transmission and wondering how to remove and install the ring on the inner end of the output shaft. The ring appears to be hard carbon and approximately 12mm in diameter and square cut. Photos are attached showing the old ring still on the shaft and new ring in my hand.

After years of heat, rubber becomes hard. Getting underneath it with a small screw-driver or pick, and then moving upwards should break it. I'd put some tranny oil on new one, and slide it over shaft.
